If Kelis, T-Boz, and Lil’ Mama got together and shared a blunt at Lady Gaga’s house, the smoke would rise and form this young lady. Her name is Trish — a Canadian singer/dancer who’s been buzzing under the radar for a while. I’ve gotten hooked on her over the past few months. She sports a 4-octave vocal range, a funky and colorful style, and slick snake-like dance moves that can make Gucci Mane’s belly button jealous. Her sound is kind of electro-pop/hip-hop/funk, if that makes sense.
Above is the video for her track, “Bump”. Below are links to some more of her material. Trish really brings something different to the table. Check it out and share your thoughts. Toronto is good for more than just droopy faced rappers who used to act in wheelchairs for tweens.

DJ Dimples was born to love music. While growing up in Miami, Florida she found a fascination with her parents’ old record collection and at the tender age of three – “Miami’s Queen of the Turntables” was in the making. DJ Dimples honed her skills in her backyard ‘studio’ and with intense effort and dedication, she taught herself everything from mixing to scratching. DJ Dimples is music’s future and one of the few female deejays in South Florida and is expected to take the industry by storm. [ via Myspace ]
I haven’t done a spotlight in a minute, due to me not really giving a damn about them, but I had to show major love to my favorite DJ in the world — DJ Dimples! When I say that nobody does the turntables justice like this woman, I mean that shit! Not only is she great at what she does, but she has a funky style and a great heart. So show her some respect…or I’ll come find you!

A new Spotlight feature — I’m doing good at updating this shit.
In case you are new to her, I would like to introduce you folks to Nicki Minaj. You may not know her name, but I guarantee you know her box face. Nicki is a rap artist out of Southside Jamaica, Queens, NY that I have been following for a minute (I have a thing for female rappers…). Honestly, when I first saw this chick I thought she was a video vixen, until someone dubbed her an MC. Of course, I just made up my mind that she was one of those women selling pussy over records and passed her.
Then a reader on a blog named her the “Baddest Female MC in the Game”. My curiosity took over me and I decided to check her out. Not only did I find that Nicki Minaj is signed to Lil’ Wayne’s Young Money Records, but her Sucka Free mixtape is extremely impressive. Her flow and wordplay are on a top-notch level. Of course, Nicki does serve up all the dirty sex-kitten lyrics that I expected, but it is portioned out evenly. With the wild hair, seductive style, and bad bitch attitude, it’s hard not to love the girl.
All in all, Nicki Minaj is something new in female Hip-Hop. Besides, with Remy in the clink and Foxy and Kim doing God knows what — this woman is giving me what I need!

It has been too long since I posted a new Spotlight feature. So, to make up for that here is my girl, Money — the Spotlight for this week. You may have never heard of this California pop singer, but trust that you will very soon. Money, who has been singing since age 15, grew up around a musical family. Also an enchanting dancer, Money stuns with a raw, yet soft and sensual voice. Her record “Fantasy”, produced by Walter Milsap III, appeared on Timbaland’s recent album, Shock Value, instantly gaining public attention! Money has a very futuristic, unique, and dance-inspired sound — a sound that differs from everything else in the industry today. The first single off of Money’s upcoming album, Unlady Like, will be “Future”. Look out for it! This woman is getting ready to take over!

The one thing I love and respect about B.Scott is his honesty and will to share himself with the world. There are some videos that he posts on Youtube that delve so far into his personal life that I wonder why he even feels the need to give viewers that much of his soul. Now, I know it is because there are other people out there just like him and by not fearing to be who he truly is, he inspires everyone else to do the same — love themselves. For that, I honor him.
See, I can be nice.
Anyway, B.Scott has a new social network called Double Kisses. I encourage his fans and followers to go join and show him support. If you are brand new, get into it.

The Urban Blogger is a new social network for bloggers and the good folks who read them — kind of like Myspace or Facebook, but with a focus on blogs. The site made its fresh launch on Monday and already has over 100 members (including yours truly…add me, bitches). This is definitely a cool place for bloggers, writers, and authors on the rise to interact with others and gain more readers to their websites, while readers can sign up and be introduced to all types of new sites. There are forums, groups, and profile pages for every member. One cool thing about it is that whenever you post a blog on your page it shows up on the site’s homepage for all to see. So, The Urban Blogger is a great place for all of us web junkies to come together and support one another.
Shouts to my girl, Necole Bitchie, for starting it all up. I stan for you, homie!

That’s Not Hott!! is a celebrity news and gossip blog that I’ve been in tune with for a while. The thing I love about it is that HotSauce, the author, reminds me a lot of myself. Therefore, the blog speaks to me. There is a number of posts that I find on this blog that I don’t see anywhere else, and HotSauce lays it all out with witty no-holds-barred humor. Check it on out and bookmark it!

“Everyone is born a millionare, you just gotta get the check” ~ Justin Obida
You gotta love a good quote. The one above was given to me personally by Justin “JussBaby” Obida (24), who holds the spot of Founder/CEO of The Million Dollar Baby Society – a group of young men in South Florida. At first glance one would think that these fellas are a new rap group or just some flashy dudes with colorful sneakers, but the real objective of the group is so much deeper. The men of the MDB $ociety vow to promote positivity and never settle for what our community expects from us, but to instead go above and beyond the norm. Justin’s nephew, Jovon “JovonDaDon” Gary (17), also leads Million Dollar Baby and, of course, has a major fanbase at his high school, where they even tried implementing MDB in their senior photos. All the while my damn high school was on lockdown for smoking weed and fighting at homecoming.
But I digress.
Other members of this rapidly-expanding crew include, Nino McFly, an acclaimed rapper, Durell Smith, a producer/skateboarder, and so many more from here to China (literally). The Million Dollar Baby Society is making major moves in 2008 — from a clothing/sneaker project, to exclusive worldwide parties, and even their own independent reality series. You can expect to see and hear more from these fellas very soon.
Check out more photos of the MDB $ociety under the cut and hit them up on Myspace!
