T-Pain vs The Vocoder

It’s always nice to see celebrities make fun of themselves — gives me a break from having to do it for them all the time. Here Titty Pain does a little skit about his use of the vocoder. Who better to touch base on how ridiculous that thing is than him? Now that Lil’ Wayne, Kanye West, and even Ciara have fallen in love with the device, I think it is time for something new. Maybe…I don’t know, real singing?

Janet Farts On Def Jam!

Ignore the title…I just didn’t feel like saying “Janet leaves Def Jam”. That shit sounds boring. However, that is indeed the case. In an interview with the wonderful folks at Rap-Up, Rodney “Darkchild” Jerkins stated that Ms. Jackson (if ya’ nasty) has been released from Def Jam. Apparently, she requested this action after feeling that her last album, Discipline, was not properly promoted. I blame this chick!

Give ‘Em That Funk!

My Little Pony & The Wish I Got A Paycheck Dreams hit the stage in Philly yesterday as part of the 2008 Rock The Vote Road Trip. There was probably a noticeable smell of old yaki and crawfish circling around in the air, but as long as the crowd got a performance, right? I’d just like to know when Sol-Angel’s background singers will get a costume change. Is Amerie not sewing fast enough back at the crypt?

Not So Much

I remember when Jada P. used to light up my life. She will always hold a special spot in my heart (wherever there is room), but lately our souls have not been huck-a-bucking like the old days. That husband of hers is probably doing Lord knows what out on these streets with the Hollywood folk. It probably has my Jada all kerbobbled in the head, but I won’t have it. My love is here for you, girl!

Trey Songz in GIANT

Trey Songz is working his peanut butter swag in the new issue of GIANT Magazine. Whatever makes the coochie go pop, I guess. I wouldn’t really know. I’m actually not very familiar with any of Trey’s records past “Just Gotta Make It”, but all the groupies stay chanting his name and trying to strip him naked in public. The R&B heartthrob (term used loosely) is hard at work on a new album, post-haircut, so maybe he will give me something to jam to.

Timbalan On Next Jay-Z LP

“He wants me to do the whole thing this time around,” Timbaland said Monday during a visit to the MTV News office. “I’mma make it a classic too. You better believe it. It’ll be a monster! I always say this: You get a first single from me, I’mma get you up to gold. And it’s hard to get you up to gold in this day [and age].” [ source ]

So, both Beyoncé and her Camel King are using Timbaland to produce their entire albums. Good move on their part. We can say what we want about the folds in his neck or whatever, but Timbo makes hit records. I personally would prefer it if Jay to a break from music for a while. He hasn’t really impressed me with his last couple LPs. Go back into retirement and then come back — let us miss you first.

No Anger Management

I am so not mad at black celebrities blogging anymore. You can get a good laugh off of some of this shit! I need DMX, Foxy Brown, and Naomi Campbell to all start blogging before the year is over. Check out this Kanye quote!

Do yall remember when people said my fiance was pregnant????  What happened to that rumor????? I guess after we broke up it was just forgot about????  I’m just using that as an example of how people make up stuff and everybody runs with it. I had my own family asking me about that. Now the media is saying I’m going to anger management something or ‘nother. I have never had any conversations about anger management. If anything, I need anger enhancement!! lol! I get off the plane in Hawaii today and the world is saying my management team said blah blah blah…  SIIIIIIGGGHHHH!  I told the media you can’t make up lies about me because I have a media outlet myself. Oh and sidebar I don’t know if everyone has realized this yet but I don’t do interviews if there’s anything I wanna say I’ll say right here on my own blog. [ source ]

That was an easier read than Khia’s rant! I’m not mad that Kanye is skipping out on anger management, only because I tried that when I was a teenager — it was bullshit! All it did was make me angrier. With bad credit, bill collectors, and stupid people still lingering, there isn’t much that can stop black anger.

Guess Who?

So, Tyra Banks finally garnered her own wax figure at Madame Tussauds in Washington, DC. Looks like the wig came straight from the real Tyra’s closet shelf. I guess we should all say congratulations. This is supposedly some kind of symbol of fame and success.

I, personally, am not a fan of Madame Tussauds Wax Museum. Besides the fact that the figures are creepy as hell, my grandaunt Ruby once went psycho over a copy of Sammy Davis Jr. during a visit and embarrassed the whole damn family. I’m never going back.

Why Can’t We Be Friends?

Jay-Z caught wind of the comments Amy Winehouse made about Kanye West during last week’s Glastonbury Festival in the UK (she called him a cunt…feel free to die here) and decided to speak out – in a positive manner.

“She said something about Kanye late on [in her set] but I didn’t hear it,” he said. “I don’t agree with it. He’s my brother and the biggest artist on Roc-A-Fella right now. … I guess I should hook them up, because he’s a great guy, too. I don’t know what the problem is. I don’t know where that came from.” [ source ]

Honestly, I would not have even entertained Winecooler’s insult. I love her, but she’s a fucking crackhead. Since when has the disrespectful commentary of a junkie been worth anyone’s time and/or energy? I’m surprised Amy didn’t just fall over onstage and start singing “I’m a Little Teapot”, hell!

Snatch The Cat Back

Forgive the title…I just felt the need to drop that term somewhere this month.

Khia (creator of all great hood phrases) recorded another video blog explaining the issue she had with a Detroit radio station and some shit with Deelishis having “the bug”. The backstory is really not all that interesting — I just love hearing Khia talk shit. It’s better than Starbucks!

Around the 7:15 mark, however, she did start to speak some true shit that I definitely agree with. DJs need to stop acting grand and play the songs listeners want to hear…even if it’s Khia.
