I’ve always loved T-Boz, because she reads down to the ground and she’s hilarious. While in the UK for the MOBO Awards, the TLC star dropped by This Is Max for an interview — and there wasn’t a single fuck given.

At some point in the conversation, T-Boz voiced her opinion on the current onslaught of televised talent shows (X-Factor, The Voice, American Idol) and a few people caught that shade, including Nicki Minaj.

I don’t respect half the people I’ve seen lately. How the hell is she gon’ tell me what I should be doing when her ass can’t even sing. Why is she there? And then…now they’ve got rappers who don’t even sing judging? So, this is totally based off of popularity I guess. I mean, to each their own. Get your money, honey. All I’m saying is, I will never watch y’all shows again.

Michael Welps! I think a lot of people were confused by the idea of Nicki Minaj judging Idol, as it’s a singing competition and well…you know. I suppose she can judge the entertainment factor in contestants, but I don’t know any serious vocalist who’s trying to take advice from Nicki or Britney Spears for that matter.

I feel like if Nicki were going to do a singing competition show, XFactor might be the better one. Only because I see X Factor as being a show where you have to be the entire package. Shows like AI and The Voice promote themselves as being all about the singing talent, wheras XF gives me vibes of, okay that’s awesome you have a great voice, but we need someone who’s got it all. People like Nicki and Britney make decent fits for XF because they promote the fuck out of their image. Just my two cents.

I second backing Britney. No she is not a vocal talent, but that’s not what made her famous. We love T-Boz. However.. How can she talk about anyone’s singing? Sweetie, you’ve been running that same Weezy Jefferson, strep throat ass delivery for the last 2 decades.. Nah, its no shade to T-Boz, I grew up listening to TLC’s music in the 90′s. But please believe if they threw her just a QUARTER of what they’re paying Nicki, her bankrupt ass would be sitting right on that panel doing the same exact thing. Y’all not gon shade Aunty T-Boz & Chilli about there vocal abilities! T-Boz has the most unique timbre I ever heard! They were decent trained singers who sound the same on record and performing. Check out any of their first performances. No they’re not the best vocally but they are good, better than Ms.Minaj so therefore T-Boz can throw as much shade as she want!

Yes we should respect the fact that she’s there and that this was AI’s decision but that does NOT mean we just have to DEAL, like Fury would say. How the hell can Nicki Minaj truly judge anyone on singing technique? What credible advice can she give?
