Gay Marriage: Get Over It

Kid Fury May 15, 2012 Kid Fury TV 20 Comments

I’m so over this topic. The fact remains that this is a country where everyone is supposed to have freedom and equal rights, regardless of what your religious beliefs are. Let the gays get married and move on.

Kid Fury I love your site, twitter, and videos and i am a supporter of gay marriage however, i always wondered how the gay community feels about Christianity (if they practice) and what it says in the Bible. Although it does say love thy neighbor, it also blatantly says that homosexuality is an abomination and that they should be killed immediately. I just think that we can’t pick certain quotes from the Bible to support our arguments while ignoring other material. I’m not saying the Bible is the ultimate truth and authentic, trust me I have my own hang-ups. I was just curious as to how you as a follower of the Christian faith felt about that.

side-note: this isn’t an attack. I, as a woman, have a hard time with the Bible because of the blatant rules to make us subordinate in almost every aspect of life as well as the harsh punishments for stuff we can’t help such as our periods. i just wanted to know how a gay man felt about the Bible. that is all.

I’ve never understood the big issue on Gay marriage. Why stop two people who love each other from living happy ever after??? this topic is annoying and i feel like it should have been accepted years ago. If you don’t like, just like w/ many other issues, GET OVER IT!! It’s none of your business-let other people be.

I am at war with the bible, Christianity and all the rest of that religious crap. The bible for instance, says so many things that are blatantly contradictory is isn’t even funny, but it doesn’ t actually say anything specifically against gay marriage. It does say disobedient children should be stoned to death, however. It also indicates God is as displeased with left-handed folks, people who have tattoos and people who eat shellfish as he is with homosexuals. If you can take the bible seriously after actually READING it….. Anyway it she never be used as the basis for our laws, for obvious reasons.

KID FURY!!! You have no idea how much I needed one of your videos. And you are so right about the smores, EVERYONE I know has front row seats to the gauntlet of fire, and their the same ones throwing shade at other people for their sins. I dont get it

You Know honestly alot most of the things that have to do with marriage are regulated by the state.  So in all actuallity the should have the right to be miserable just like everyone else.

  • Hazel

Our priorities as a country are jacked. We need to focus on creating laws to prevent people from having 6 kids and counting with no jobs [some choose not to work] or grown people who impregnant these pre-teens. Back to the topic, let people be. Gay, Straight, handicapped, etc…they pay their taxes just as I do so why should I, as a straight woman, get more rights then them?? Makes no damn sense. Campaign for 2012 and beyond…Focus on shit that matters.

Seth Rogan summed up my thoughts on this perfectly:
“Claiming that someone else’s marriage is against your religion is like being angry at someone for eating a donut because you’re on a diet.”  seriously, what in the hot crackling fuck does someone else’s relationship have to do with you taking yo ass to worship?

People quote and misquote the Bible incessantly and yet they always seems to miss the moral of the story. Do your best to be righteous and be kind to your fellow man; everything else is semantics. I can’t tell a homosexual person that what they are doing is wrong, but I can try my best to understand them. I can be compassionate toward their experiences and hardships in hopes of some reciprocity. The sooner the world grasps that concept the sooner we’ll all be able to have better more positive human interactions.

Look. Using verses found in Leviticus, or any other book from the Old Testament for that matter, is pointless. Whether you’re arguing for or against same sex marriage. The laws and commandments found in many of those books were specifically addressed to the people that would form, and the actual nation of Israel. This is why people shouldn’t be misquoting and taking verses from the bible out of context. It’s reiterated throughout the New Testament that Jesus Christ came to this earth to replace the laws of the Old Testament, and that a person’s salvation is based ONLY on their faith in him. Paul and other authors of books in the NT are redundant in stating that the only way to heaven is faith in Jesus Christ. That’s it. So is it possible for homosexuals to go to heaven? If they believe that Christ is their Lord and Savior, that he was crucified, died and rose again as payment for their sins, then yes, it is possible. Now in Romans the act of sodomy is brought up as are many other sins. God will judge ALL, homosexual and heterosexuals, individually and accordingly when they stand before him.

1 Peter 4:8 And above all things have fervent love for one another, for “love will cover a multitude of sins.”

There were plenty of heterosexual married couples that ruined the “sanctity of marriage” long before gays were even brave enough to speak up for themselves.

That was pretty straight up. Just about what I wanted to say…only 2230847362948 times shorter.

I liked alot of what you had to say especially that part about Atheists getting married. Clever. To be honest, I’m not for gay marriage, but it isn’t because I think it’s okay for us to control politics or whatever other people do. I think God gave us all free will to do WHATEVER. Anything. Seriously. Sin. Marry animals. Cluck. Burn plants. Eat crawfish (seriously anybody who’s still fusing about why Christians eat shellfish but won’t support homosexuality should really read the New Testament. It’s all there). I do believe that the Bible is the word of God and because of that, I’m not going to outright support anything that God’s word says is detestable (the practice of homosexuality that is which would include marrying the same sex…not necessarily just WANTING to). But again, God gives us the free will to do whatever and HE decides who is going to hell. So while I’m NOT going to tell you that Leviticus is 100% wrong and outdated (please realize that most of it is. We’re not stoning people who sin for a good reason: Jesus), I’m also not going to tell every gay person that he/she is going to hell….well because that’s just not in the Bible.

Now I have lied and broken many commandments, but I’m not going to lead a whole movement asking for people to accept me for these things. I’m not going to say the Bible is not the word of God just because I do these things. I may lie tomorrow. We all struggle with sin. But God loves all of us. However God loving us does not mean we can just do whatever we want. We all still have to give an account for the things we did while on earth one day. I think too many people who criticize the Bible forget that alot of things that we SAY the Bible excuses are not actually excused…like Sarah giving her handmaid to Abraham to have kids…I’m going on a tangent…Anyway, what about bestiality?? Why is it that homosexuality is the only forbidden sexual practice in the Bible that people won’t accept is forbidden? You’ll find that most people aren’t personally struggling with bestiality so it simply doesn’t apply.

Point blank, I don’t care if you’re gay or straight. I don’t care if we finally do say people can marry animals, tables, plants, bacteria, etc. It’s the government okaying it. Not God. Honestly, if you do not have a personal relationship with God, then you’re screwed because you can’t even talk about the Old Testament or why God just may not want you marrying another dude. It won’t matter. If you put your sexual desires that much on a totem pole to the point where you won’t even listen to what God says…then that’s why you’d be screwed. Not because you’re gay. If you decide that how you feel is more important. Then that’s why you’re screwed. Not simply because you’re gay. If you had a personal relationship with God, you’d receive revelation about what He says is screwing you over completely vs. what you really just shouldn’t do (like eat seafood because it’s actually really unhealthy). You’ll let a few Bible verses stop you from claiming salvation that is rightfully yours rather than trying to discover why (Because it isn’t “just wrong”) But understanding why takes effort and that…well people just won’t do that. In the end, I don’t want to vote on who gets to marry who or what at all. If you’re doing what you want to do then just do it. I don’t need to just up and down and say yay for gay to love you no matter what. I usually don’t say anything. I’m still going to respect you because I’m saying I don’t have political the right to tell you what to do unless you are hurting me…just don’t expect me to go against my religious beliefs and say it’s okay. I’m basically saying I don’t care what happens in the government, it won’t change what I believe.
