Video: Rihanna – We Found Love

Kid Fury October 19, 2011 Curry Goat Tales, Videos 82 Comments

Here’s the video for Curry Goat’s first single, “We Found Love”, off the upcoming Talk That Talk album. I wasn’t expecting such a deep video to accompany this flighty ass song, but it works. I’m now in my feelings. Thanks, Rihanna. Watch below!

Bajanista has left me conflicted and lost. Throwing up ribbons? Popping pills? Gratuitous, drug-laden sex? I need some translation. That one scene of her and that blond dude and her getting out of the car… I won’t say, but it’s an obvious allusion.

    • Anonymous

It’s just a visual of being lost in love with someone and all the dangers and dark shit that can come along with that. Not giving a damn about what you’re doing, because you’re in love. I get it.

Oh, and that car scene was CLEAR SHADE!

  • Kingphoenix

This video is awesoooome! I just have to watch it muted…

  • Anonymous

I like the song now. I was on the fence, but the video made me like it.

    • sck

You’re right the video made the song much better!

  • http://twitter.com/KnowMJ M.J.

Damn it… the song’s stuck in my head.

  • Dariansmith55

It’s so much shade in this video it could be incrimanating & I LOVE IT!!! The car scene, police lights. them kissing in the resturant! YAS!!! lol I like the song now though, a good visual is always good!

    • Anonymous

      You caught all the shade!!!

      • sck

Nice. I was wondering if anyone caught the restaurant shade.

        • Anonymous

Me too. Y’all are the best.

          • Lyss152

As soo n as I saw them arguing in the car and the police lights, my mind went to that incident and I was like O_O.

    • Msghettofab9

wait, whats the restaurant scene relating to?

      • Anonymous

        This.

    • VSdrby24

  • @j_ohhj_ohh

I can read shade and that right there is a girl in a hopeless place, reliving abuse to sell some records.

    • Dariansmith55

Yes I kinda peeped that to, like why go back into that space & make ppl keep going back to what happened yrs ago. I hope it doesn’t affect Chris anymore bc he’s def trying. Nonetheless I love the video & song!

    • Jai

      AGREED. She’s really trying it.

It makes sense that her music is still inspired by that. It’s not an easy thing to get over. This is probably her way of going through therapy.

      • http://twitter.com/AS307 AS

I agree. And, if somebody’s gonna beat my ass, you best believe I’m gonna be on a come up off of it for as long as possible. She took lemons and made lemonade. I can’t knock her hustle. Seriously, why should she care about Chris Brown? I’m not saying this to shade him, but he isn’t her man, he isn’t her friend, he’s not paying her bills, so there is no reason for her to consider him. And, he uses his martyr complex over being “persecuted” to sell albums. He has a “poor me” schtick that he uses and it works. A check is a check!

        • Courtney

I disagree. If Chris had a “poor me” schtick, retailers wouldn’t have refused to stock Graffiti back in 2009 so that’s a bunch of a b.s.

          • Courtney

Let’s not forget BET trying to keep him from performing at the BET Awards and other stuff. Chris BARELY got sympathy.

          • http://twitter.com/AS307 AS

How would BET try to keep him from performing at their own award show? Either he’s invited or he’s not. They made a calculated business decision. Their job isn’t to massage his ego or career, their job is to put on a show that will sell ad time. Period. BET is a private corporation and people rely on it for employment, so why would they risk it? If they figured enough people would feel bad for him, they would have put him on. Chris wants sympathy and his stans give it to him. It works on you guys. He knows his market too.

It works among his fan base. His fans feel sorry for him. And, as for the Graffiti thing, that was CB’s lie. He went to three random stores and didn’t see the Wal-Mart greeter handing it out so he claimed they weren’t selling it. The corporate stocking heads of Target and Walmart said they couldn’t sell the ones they had, so obviously they had more than enough. They responded to the press inquiries that followed CB’s paranoid rant. So, what are you talking about?

And, what about his “Forgiving All My Enemies” album title? If that isn’t some passive-aggressive “I’m taking the high road” stuff, then I don’t know what is. His Twitter rants and his stans try to peddle the myth that he is some victim. I know many people who would love to be “victims” like this in a recession.

          • Lonny

That wasn’t his lie. People went to stores all over and they didn’t have them and some had pictures and videos. That’s why he went on that RT spree before he deleted his twitter last time.
That wasn’t CB’s lie , that was CB’s life.  Fox News, Anderson Cooper, and anyone else with a platform is still going in on him.  Hit up his twitter mentions at any given moment and I’m sure their is a death wish in there for him.

The issue with Chris having enemies is that. He hit his girlfriend ( I know some of ya’ll will say he didn’t hit her HE ALMOST KILLED her, but she had no black eyes, bruised, ribs or broken nose despite all the punches she described this 6’2 180 lb dude hit her with so, DON’T do it)
They fought. It’s on file. Amongst that she has forgiven him, her family doesn’t sh*t on him, even her best friend Melissa got him as one of her fave artists on facebook.  They no curr! But other people care and some people care because they care about DV ( just not when Jay Z, Eminem, and them do it.) Or they care about her being a victim and they can’t support him because they don’t speak forgiveness. And those aren’t his enemies. They can hold their opinions and speak on them forever.

But  people saying “he can’t dance anyway” “he’s a flop” are haters cuz we can see he’s sold well and dancers and choregraphers will speak on his ability.  And people who say “I hope he burns ” “someone should rape him”  and  the people who block his cash flow and challenge
his public image by going in on him all the time. Those aren’t his friends, they aren’t cordial, they don’t feel neutral about him? So what’s left, enemies?

He does have some enemies. It’s not passive aggressive.    He does have a right to be pissed, because while he was a victim of child abuse  ( witnesses of parental abuse are considered child abuse victims) and probably domestic violence with Rih Rih (because emotional and mental abuse are in the definition, I’m not even gonna use  ”she used to hit him up too and disrespect him in public ” cuz I heard, and I got that tea back in 07-08 already and people are going to say how strong he is so blah let’s stick to emotional abuse from control and such). I’m just saying he was a victim from ages from age 8 pretty much. Then one night he becomes the aggressor and he gets handled and treated and dragged for making a victim when he never dealt with being one (Aside from peeing on himself)

It’s not about his fans saying “oh poor Chris” but of course people can use logic and a lil bit of psych studies and personal experience to see that he don’t know how to deal with all the blame w
Be clear, people really do hate him.  We don’t care for Young Berg, but people hate CB, it’s not from thin ari.

And this vid is just an attempt to redirect things back to Chrianna, cuz people love Chrianna.  Rihanna got the best team around her. She’s winning

          • Jenny

            Are you done?

          • Lonny

            nope

Of course if you only read a few paragraphs on a blog a day this much reading might be out of your league. And to think, people finish BOOKS in hours.

            Maybe I’m done now.

  • Swag…less…

I didn’t like the song at first but this video is really good

  • ap

this video looks like it was directed by tumblr hipsters.

    I love it. LOVE IT.
    I totally get it. Whew!!

I’m still kinda iffy about the song. The video is probably one of the best she’s done, but I am getting a “tumblr hipster” vibe from this. LMAO not to mention the repetition of shade. She CONTINUES to bring something that happened almost 3 years ago. Here she is 3 albums in after the incident. If it didn’t boost up her sales then, it certainly won’t now. She tried it.

    sosososo… we’re just ignoring the bajan-irish accent? oh okay…

    • Anonymous

I really wanted to breeze past that.

    • DominicaRocks

OMG I thought she paid someone to do a voice over, that’s supposed to be Riri

      • Anonymous

Rihanna said on twitter that its Agyness Deyn doing the voiceover.

        • Bmarie

          i stand corrected…

Rihanna, I clocked that shade you were throwing at Fistopher. And I’m going to let that Lucky Charms “Irish” accent go.

This makes me really want to watch an episode of Skins UK.

Loved the shade. Still don’t like this song though.

    • IMJUSTBEINGHONEST

I was thinking the same thing! They remind me of Freddie and Effy except…black. lol

      • Jalvr4l

I was thinking the exact same thing…

      • SU

ah, the angst-ridden splendour of skins! Riri did a great job in this video!

  • CHILE BOO!

So I’m assuming she has permission to milk this “incident” for the rest of her career? Oh okay.

  • Brittany…

    Honey Rihanna is TRYING IT!

  • calilove

    The video totally
made me like the song and I LOVE all the shade…Team Breezy attack in
    5,4,3,2,…

Rihanna is changing her accent like Madonna and Ga Ga now…this is gonna be the new trend.

This is the reason i fuckin love Rihanna. She dont give a fuck…Chris is really mad right now. Ouch!

  • Suchalady

I LOVE THIS VIDEO! I don’t think it was shade, just reflection. There’s still feelings there…I don’t care what anyone says. Go Rih Rih!

  • SU

i don’t think its rihanna speaking, that accent seems like a northern england- manchester accent. something i think she would have a HARD time mastering. I think its another actors voice.

    • SU

*yorkshire accent not manchester, my mistake.

  • losh

I would never have thought Curry Goat was into the Sex Pistols… I have to hand it to her JUST FOR THAT!!!!  (Although maybe it was the director that was into the Sex Pistols.  I mean, is it me or does this reek of Sid Vicious and Nancy Spungen….)

    • Bhawkins2500

      no it’s not just you…

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=503594604 Keisha Butler

It’s weird how much that guy favors CB.  Loved the video–it wasn’t as bad as I was expecting.

    • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_AYQCICXEN2CCDBFV5HED4Z2RUA Dee B

I don’t think he favors him at all, besides the blonde hair.  That guy is textbook model…all angles in the face, so only cute at some angles.

  • http://twitter.com/EssieInSoCal Essie

is it just me or does this sounds very euro-pop or what? And then also made the video in Ireland… Is she trying to sell more in Europe or something?

    • Jacqueline Wilson1218

Her fanbase is huge in the UK

  • EbonyLolita

I’m spinning MY glowsticks. I really could take or leave the song. The video helped me TAKE it!!! It’s her life & if she wants to relive it, rehash it and reTELL it then so be it. If FistBrown gave a fuck or two bout his image he never would have FINISHED HER like Mortal Kombat. ALL that shade was necessary & I ain’t mad at it!! Shit is real & somewhere there’s a lil girl or boy thinking that Drugs+Abuse+Unstableness= Love. Rihanna said she been there & done that. I get the message. But Imma wait for the Illuminati references in 5. 4. 3. 2……

  • Ashley

I’m tired of people saying she needs to get over what happened three years ago. I’m a Chris Brown fan, but what he did was wrong. If they both weren’t celebrities people would never say that. Who goes to a battered woman and tells them to “get over it”? That shit runs deep. She was abused and her being a celeb doesn’t mAke her psychological recovery any easier. She loves him, but he hurt her a way that she can never go back to him. I love all the shade in this video. this video makes me want to cry because I feel her hurt and love. Rihanna is not an actress that pain in her eyes is real! Love love love the video. This is bold of her.

  • Mariah

Wait a minute, this is too deep.

    • Phillamp

YAAAAAAS!! Mariah. Funny you quote this song, since this song was what blocked Rihanna’s Pon De Replay from hitting number one.

      • http://www.facebook.com/brandonjaye Brandon Jones

You mean besides the song itself?

        • bmarie

          dammit! lol

  • QueenB

Lol im sorry i love this video, i didnt like the song at first but after seeing the video i love it. Shes describing a difficult love and so what if she uses chris brown to channel her emotions, the girl was in love with him. Go head riri <3

  • Beck

Well done rihanna’s creative team.  This is a fantastic video, but I don’t think any video in the world can make such a shit song good.  Its sad that all the work Rihanna’s team put into such a brilliant video was ruined by her death by ear blood loss vocal. Really unfortunate.  Oh & the guy in the video is fine af.

  • Faye Hamm

I cannot lie, I’m old enough to remember “Trainspotting” but that blatant “borrow” in this video still sells the song.  Plus I can’t forget — when I was visiting Croatia “Umbrella” was big and those Croatians ,LUBZ THEM SOME RIRI so the Euro sound is no mistake.

  • Faye Hamm

PS Anyone who has ever been in a really bad/good relationship will feel this video.

  • babywiggles

I actually loved the video, not just for the apparent shade been thrown from the free throw line but the fact that women go threw this same thing every single day. I think people should look at the larger message instead of “her milking her incident” i was born 22 years ago I still milk my birthday! She is not the first to catch an ass whuppin and won’t be the last. Hell Tina Turner did the same shit. A nigga whup my ass all will not ever ever ever be forgiven!

  • Noee6293

Did anyone notice all the DRUGS in the video. I think this video tells the whole story without saying anything. They were both hopped up when it happened and that’s why none of them really wants to speak on it. I always thought Chris was dabbling, like who gets that hyped up off an argument to bite someone? Yeah it had to be drugs. But the video was the best so far, whoever directed it. THUMBS UP!

  • http://twitter.com/ipurplestarz Marteen Fraser

I always liked this song, im from the UK and LOVE Calvin Harris but never really understood the song properly, that is until watching the visual!! AMAZING!!! Love it even more now!

  • BTayBabeh.

The intro to the video made me wish the song was better.
I was highly disappointed. Ah well. Either way, the blonde-haired, green-eyed sex monster in this video is giving me everything I need. Rihanna, I can take or leave her and her Euro-pop song [which sounds like a techno remix to a much better song]… *shrugs and sips tea*
