The pop music shade continues and my undergarments are tightening with glee!

Kelis reportedly told Britain’s Daily Star, “Katy Perry is crap. It’s just poor pop. Her name might be on her stuff but that doesn’t mean it’s any good.”

I don’t know how I feel about the validity of this quote, and Kelis really doesn’t have room for even a shady queef — not after that last album. Katy Perry has five number one singles from Teenage Dream alone. Thoughts?

Kelis’s last album was very good, but it was a head of the time. When she put out her album the dance-pop movement was still very much in Europe and hadn’t crossed to the U.S., and now that it has you have stars like Katy Perry, Rihanna, Chris Brown, etc jumping to the movement. Kelis has always been ahead of the game, and that’s why people don’t get about her, because she isn’t doing what everyone else is doing.

I agree with Kasandra! Kelis has always been ahead of her time. She was singing over Neptune beats before anyone knew who they were. And I agree with Kelis, Katy Perry is trash. I mean…I listen to Katy…It’s good for singing along to when you’re in the car with your friends. I’m not listening to it to find the meaning to life or anything.

Also she should listen to “Peacock” from Teenage Dream. That song’s just awesome.

I wonder why people always say you are ahead of your time when no one buys or listens to your music? If the music was good it wouldn’t matter when it came out people would flock to it gradually and I still don’t see people checking for anything kelis has made since her first single( or maybe just me). Well, was she lying? None of ya’ll fucked with Katy when she was gospel, now that shes jumping on the Euro-pop wave (Which Kelis has been on since her Wonderland album) She has gained fame. Kelis is and will always be one of THE MOST underrated talents of our generation, so YES her comment has validity. Regardless what people say, Kelis’ words and opinion still hold weight and if you don’t like it oh well, you’re probably a fan of this crap-o-la that you love to call MUSIC these days…
