A little good did come out of yesterday’s BET Awards: Al Green shook a little bit of ass and sang “Love & Happiness”, and Jennifer Hudson premiered her new video for “Spotlight”. J.Hud is one of the loves of my life, so you know I had the TiVo doing more loops than a coaster at the county fair!

What does everyone think of her debut video?

I’m sure a lot of bloggers and readers are scrambling around trying to find post-BET Awards coverage and what not, but don’t expect any of that shit here. I hardly watched the whole show and I refuse to spend a bunch of time on fuckery.

Some new photos of Trey Songz have popped up on the net, showing him with a fresh new haircut. I kind of figured that after a while he would shave those fat ass braids off and go for something more clean cut.

So, anybody feeling his new do? Hell, give him a couple waves, some slicked down edges, and a sweaty neck, and I think he might be the next Ginuwine.

Well, I missed The 35th Annual Emmys and I’m fine with that, except that with the look of these pictures from VH1 Blog, I would have liked to see Tyra win her award for Outstanding Talk Show. We know Ty-Ty likes to make those Monster’s Inc. faces for emphasis sometimes and we love it. Give her another trophy, damnit!

Khia (creator of all great hood phrases) recorded another video blog explaining the issue she had with a Detroit radio station and some shit with Deelishis having “the bug”. The backstory is really not all that interesting — I just love hearing Khia talk shit. It’s better than Starbucks!

Around the 7:15 mark, however, she did start to speak some true shit that I definitely agree with. DJs need to stop acting grand and play the songs listeners want to hear…even if it’s Khia.

Blog Diva and founder of TheUrbanBlogger.com, Ms. Necole Bitchie, was giving all these hoes buckets of fever at the Female Success Factor Seminar at BAM in New York this past weekend. So, just in case you didn’t realize how beautiful Ms. Bitchie is, feast your eyes on them photos. I’m glad to see fellow bloggers of color getting recognized. Eat from Necole’s plate, Perez — EAT!

MTV News recently caught up with Cassie on the set of her new video for, “Official Girl”, which now features Lil’ Wayne. The theory of this girl excelling in the “look pretty & shut your ass up” section of the industry instead of singing will stick with me to my grave. I will give her major credit for being persistent and not quitting, but honestly it feels like they are still teaching Cassie how to sing. Let’s be real — sell a fragrance or something, girl.

Anyone who knows me knows that I can’t stand Soulja Boy or his music — it’s just too Hooked On Phonics for me. However, this video [c/o Miss Info TV] has leaned me into respecting him as an artist and a person.

Old school rapper (turned actor) Ice-T recently stormed down on Soulja Boy claiming that he “killed Hip-Hop” and that he should “eat a dick”. While the 17-year old rap star definitely had his share of cracks to serve on Ice, he got profoundly deep towards the end of the video, saying a lot of true and mature shit. I tip my hat off to the brother and might buy a ringtone just for this gem…nah, but good job!

It has been confirmed that following his departure from Sony earlier this year, R&B singer Omarion has signed with hit-maker Timbaland’s record label - Mosley Music Group - an off-shoot of Interscope Records.

“I’m really excited about this project. Timbaland is like family to me, so it’s always great to work with family and I think this is going to be my best album yet. I’m happy to call Mosley Music Group my new home.” [ source ]

Does this mean that Chris Strokes Stokes will no longer have a “hands-on” part in Omarion’s career? What a damn shame. I guess he will have to polish up Marques Houston’s assets for another project…ahem.
